Seminar Invitation / Bilge Mutlu: "Designing Robots as Products, Tools, and Platforms"
Bilge Mutlu is the Sheldon B. and Marianne S. Lubar Professor of Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and the director of the People and Robots Laboratory. His research focuses on developing human-centered methods and principles to design robotic products and enable their successful integration into human environments. Dr. Mutlu has an interdisciplinary background that combines design, behavioral science, and robotics. He holds degrees in product design from Middle East Technical University (METU) and Istanbul Technical University (ITU) and a PhD in human-computer interaction from Carnegie Mellon University. A former Fulbright fellow, Dr. Mutlu has received numerous career awards, in addition to over two dozen “best paper” awards and nominations. His research has been featured in international press outlets such as The Economist, New Scientist, Popular Science, and Discovery News.
