‘Imperfection in Product Materials’
13 October – 12 December 2012 (Closed on Sundays) Kadir Has University Cibali Campus, Faculty of Art and Design, Kadir Has Caddesi – Istanbul Not all materials age gracefully. Only very few materials retain an impeccable and untarnished ‘skin’ decades after first use in a product. On the other hand, for some product sectors, material degradation or material inhomogeneity are viewed as positive attributes to be embraced. The ‘Imperfection in Product Materials’ project run by the Department of Industrial Design, Middle East Technical University, provides a platform for highlighting society’s polarized values regarding material perception and appreciation in everyday products.
