Owain Pedgley B.Sc. Ph.D. ODTÜ Endüstriyel Tasarım Bölümü'nde Profesördür. Uzmanlık alanları, özellikle malzeme arayüzleri ve ürün tasarımını kapsayacak şekilde, etkileşim ve kullanıcı deneyimi (UX) için tasarımına yöneliktir. 'Materials Experience' ('Malzeme Deneyimi', Elsevier, 2021; 2014) kitap serisinin yardımcı editörüdür; Design Studies dergisinin Yayın Kurulu üyesi; ve She Ji: The Journal of Design, Economics and Innovation dergisinin Yardımcı Editörüdür. Uzun yıllardır, akademik sorgulamaya bir yaklaşım olarak 'Tasarım yoluyla Araştırma'nın savunuculuğunu yapmaktadır. Kendisi, geniş tabanlı ürün tasarımı eğitiminde 20 yılı aşkın deneyimiyle Yüksek Öğrenim Akademisi (Birleşik Krallık)'nin Kıdemli Üyesi'dir. Ürün, sistem ve hizmetlere yenilik arayışında olan yerel ve uluslararası markalarla çalışarak endüstri ile işbirliği içinde olan yüzlerce kavramsal öğrenci tasarım projesini yürütmüş ve sergilenmesine yardımcı olmuştur. Akademik kariyerinde önce, spor ekipmanları ve müzik aletleri sektörlerinde tasarım ve prototipler yapmıştır.
Araştırma Alanları
Temel araştırma uzmanlık alanlarım kullanıcı deneyimi (UX), arayüzler ve etkileşim, tasarımı somutlaştırma (design materialization) ve tasarım yoluyla araştırma (research through design - RTD) konularını kapsamaktadır.
